Raja Ampat Raja Ampat

Raja Ampat is a destination that is fast coming to the forefront of world dive destinations. It is said, that it may even eclipse PNG for wealth in biodiversity (hey, it`s just a different side of the same island!). I went there to do a trip on the liveaboard Odyssea 1 based out of Sorong. We found it to be a well equipped boat designed around the needs of divers with an emphasis on dive photography This is the camera room where downloading and charging was done. The boat was very comfortable wit...

I finally got a chance to get to the Lembeh Strait off the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia. WOW! What isn`t there to see?? We stayed at Kasawari Resort, which had recently opened. It was a beautifully designed resort with charming and elegantly appointed buildings The diving is off of native styled boats which proved to be very comfortable and easy to dive from. The dives were effortless and interesting. After hitting the bottom and looking around at, what first appears to be bare black sand, yo...

I recently had a chance to go to Sipadan Island. It is a place I have always wanted to go. Getting there is quite an ordeal, though. A long flight across the USA, an even longer flight, eventually ending up in Kota Kinabalu (KK), a drive to the port nearest to the dive resort on Mabul Island, An hour boat ride to the Resort and FINALLY you are there. We stayed at Borneo Divers on Mabul. It is one of the newer resorts since Borneo Divers had to resettle after having to leave their resort on Sipad...

I have to say that when anyone asks me "where is your favorite place to dive?" I hesitate only a second. Although I love Lembeh Strait and its incredible muck diving, my heart belongs to PNG. I have to say I`ve spent a lot of time there. I am lucky enough to know people who make a one month a year stay possible. I prefer the diving off New Britain Island and the Witu Islands over any other place I`ve dived there. The biodiversity is beyond belief. I only go the liveaboard route in PNG as land ba...
Belize trip Belize trip

I decided to go to Belize with three sisters and two friends. Two of our group do not scuba dive, but wanted to see other things that Belize offers travelers. Of course, that left out any of the islands offshore, as they offer little other than diving. Our research found Hamanasi Adventure Resort on the mainland, near hopkins village. What we found was a beautiful, well appointed resort that offered many different adventures from kayaking, hiking Mayan ruins, visit to the jaguar reserve, birdwat...
