Dry Suit Saga
mcneal3kl - 7/04/2007 12:00 AM
I got one of the best deals on a dry suit. Better than I could have imagined. A guy that I know (who is an commercial diver on an oil rig) just got a new DUI drysuit. He sold me the Poseidon (if that is the correct spelling)that he used for 4 months at a price of 50 dollars. I took it out today and had that suit bend and twist me around. I made the drysuit flip me upside down and had it put me in ever situation that everyone has said to watch out for when diving drysuits. I must say that my theo...
Dry Suit
mcneal3kl - 6/25/2007 12:00 AM
I am in the market for a dry suit. The only ones that I have ever used before were the kind that I used in the Marine Corps. They were all tailor made to our body and would cost way to much for me to do the same thing and pay for it myself. So, instead of the buy and few and figure out what I want I am going to try this. Anyone who dives a Dry Suit, sales Dry Suits, or knows anything to help me make my decision easier and more knowledgeable. Any info you can give me will help....
Legands of Diving
mcneal3kl - 6/21/2007 12:00 AM
For those of you who follow diving and the people that have ment so much to this sport that you now enjoy, you can now plan to make trip to meet them. August 10th - 12th Zale Perry (of the world famous show Sea Hunt) will be at Portage Quarry. Zale Parry helped run the first civilian hyperbaric chamber for divers in California. In 1954 she set a woman`s depth record to 209 feet and became the third female instructor to graduate from the L.A. County UICC program. That same year, Zale made her scr...
Rescue Diver
mcneal3kl - 6/19/2007 12:00 AM
Well, I am finishing up my Rescue Diver and hopefully going to have my Dive Master by the end of the season. I made a promise to my son that I would be an instructor by the time he turns 12 next year, so that I can get him certified. It was a real let down that when we were suiting up to get in the water and do my dives that we had to cancel due to a lost diver. Yes, I said a lost diver. It took over an hour to locate this diver, who when he came out of the water did not think there was anything...
New Equipment
mcneal3kl - 6/13/2007 12:00 AM
Well I finally made the switch. I have been used to diving an aluminum 80 for a long time, and after many discussions with other divers I made the switch to a 100cu steel tank. I never realized the differances between steel and aluminum would be much. For starters I only used 8lbs (which fit in the trim pockets on my BC) with aluminum, and with the steel 100 I got rid of all of my weight. There is no "end of dive struggle to stay under" because the tanks stays negative the entire time. It is goi...
Nuteral Boyancy
mcneal3kl - 6/13/2007 12:00 AM
Well, I did 2 dives today at Portage Quarry, and I must say that after 4 dives with the new steel 100, I am back to the comfort level I was with the Aluminum 80. My nuteral boyance was perfect, I did a suspended deco stop at 15 feet and never moved except the up and down from breathing. My surfacing was great (the computer never got out of the green) and I must say that it was one of the most enjoyable dives this season. I got my nuteral boyance to the point that I suspended myself about 1 to 2 ...
