Grand Cayman 2008 Grand Cayman 2008
ScubaJedi - 5/27/2008 4:42 PM
Total Subersion was great this year. I really had a good time. I met one of my DiveBuddy.com buddies, Valerie. We also met some other really nice folks. I didn’t take too many undersea photos as I only have a cheap little camera that should actually be thrown out at this point. I am definitely going next year as well as it is the 10th aniiversary of PADI Total Submersion and it’s going to be great! Now, on to Bonaire....

The water was cold and murky, but it was a dive trip and I had a great time.I was properly layered and only one wimp (Steven) wore a dry suit. Of course it took 26 pounds to sink then I was overweighted, so I decided to dive head first to get down and deal with it. I was the more experienced between my dive buddy and me and therefore elected to navigate. That was a challenge and it has come to my attention that I really need more practice. I will be going to the lake a lot this summer to work on...
San Carlos Oct 11-14 2007
ScubaJedi - 10/17/2007 10:48 AM
I went to San Carlos for a dive trip through my local shop, Scuba Specialties. I was stressing as I was bringing a bunch a new students with me who had never been on a diving trip and were working toward their open water certification. I was there for my advanced open water cert. I had organized the class with my singles activity club and got a pretty good response. Everyone was nervous but they all did well despite the conditions at a couple of the dive sites. The first day of diving didn`t hap...
Dive Sint Maarten, July 2007 Dive Sint Maarten, July 2007

I went to Sint Maarten in July. We spent the first day snorkeling on a trip to three neighboring islands. I was the only real diver in our little group. I bought a Discover Scuba class for my friend, who I don`t think will ever really embrace SCUBA and that`s okay. I know it isn`t for everyone. I went with an operator called Dive Safaris out of Great Bay on the Dutch side. The water was very choppy, seas kind of rough but the diving was pretty good. I did my deepest dive yet there. The wreck of ...

My first real dive trip was that PADI Total Submersion Dive Festival in Grand Cayman. I had such a great time I am going back next year. The humidity hit me like a bus when I got off the plane at the airport in Georgetown. As soon as I got my gear and got to my room, I had that air conditioner cranked on! I went down to the bar where everyone gathers to check in and get gear if they need to rent it etc. I checked in at the dive center and they asked me how many dives I had and I proudly declared...
My Second Dive Trip My Second Dive Trip
ScubaJedi - 10/02/2007 3:51 PM
January 2007. Back to San Carlos I went to get in another dive before my big trip to Grand Cayman in April. Once again I was with Scuba Specialties and this time the instructors aboard were Kendall, the shop owner, and John Flanders who is now affiliated with Oasis Divers in Phoenix, another great shop. I was fun diving and ended up with Leslie, a Dive Master, as my dive buddy and roommate. January was mortal cold and it took some getting used to. I didn`t even complete the final dive on the las...
My Certification Story My Certification Story
ScubaJedi - 10/02/2007 3:34 PM
I first started diving last year. At the urging of a friend who told me that SCUBA was like snorkeling on steroids, I decided to go for it. I am a fairly fearless person so the idea of diving wasn`t so scary to me. I hear people all the time when I bring up the fact I dive have a ton of excuses loaded up as to why they "can`t" dive. Their ears won`t equalize, they`re claustrophobic, they`re afraid of sharks, and so on. My biggest excuse for not learning to dive prior to August of 2006 was I didn...
