How many of you are planning on attending the Bay Area Dive Show held 17 - 18 Apr 2009?

What about the Scuba Show 30 - 31 May 2009 in Long Beach, CA.

I’d like to hook up with some divebuddy.com members and do some diving in May while I’m down that way.

Howdy Nesher!

I’m looking to attend the scuba show in May, altho I have never been there. What did you have in mind in the way of diving? Am I to assume that a good 7mm suit would be in order? I havn’t had the training yet for dry suit. Take care and as always dive safe!

I’ll be at the Long Beach Scuba Show. What do you have in mind? I know Greg had a get-together last year. Jeff

I’ve never been to the Scuba Show, this will be my first year attending. I made hotel reservations already and will there on Friday.

I’m wondering if we could find someone or place to go diving while there. I’ll bring my 7mm. Hopefully we can put something together between now and then.

That’s the link to the Long Beach Scuba Show. It has all the info about costs and what’s happening. As we get closer they will update it I’m sure.

I have no clue at this point, but I will most likely be working in a booth, at least one, if not both days. Diving is going to depend on everyone’s schedule and what you are looking for. If you are staying in Long Beach near the convention center, then there are dive boats and the Catalina Express nearby. If you are looking for beach diving, then you will either need to go south to Laguna Beach, or north up to Redondo Beach and the Palos Verdes area for the closest diving.

That’s good information as I know very little about the area and the dive services in that area. I’m staying at the convention host hotel.

I’m not even sure what the schedule will allow, just want to put it out there and see what we can do.

I probably would prefer boat diving over shore diving.

Nesher,

When are you coming down and how long before you leave to head back up to the bay? The show runs 10A-5P both days I believe, so that pretty much takes up the weekend if you are coming to the show both days. If you are staying in the Hyatt, which I believe is the sponsoring hotel, then you are connected to the convention center to walk to. The nearest dive boats are about 5 miles from there, or about a mile to the Catalina Express, if you just want to cruise over to dive Casino Pt in Avalon.

That’s the link to CA Diving News where you can do a search to see what boats are available. The Bottom Scratcher, Cee Ray, and Great Escape are the 3 boats that are closest to you in Long Beach.

This is a list of all dive boats in CA from Santa Cruz to San Diego listed from north to south.

Here is the Catalina Express website. The Downtown Long Beach terminal is just on the other side of the Aquarium of the Pacific from where you will be, about a mile drive I think.

Ok, that should be enough info and links to keep you busy for a bit. :o)

I think I’ve already received my tickets. I’ll have to check just to be sure.

Thanks for posting that infomation. I’ll keep a look out for you.

Not sure if Divebuddy.com will be there but we’ll find a way later to identify ourselves.

I wrote to Greg, he says neither he nor Becky will be there. Looks like we will have to arrange some kind of meet and greet amoungst ourselves. Any Dive Buddies have any ideas for a time and or location?

I booked my hotel already at the Fairmont. I’m sure we can arrange something at the hotel. If nothing more than a time and gather at the lobby and then go from there.

Maybe something on Friday evening?

Which of the two shows do you plan on attending? This will be my first time at a dive show as well. I’m sure we’ll have a lot of interesting things to do and learn.

I’ll look forward to seeing you there.
