Coming north, Pennyroyal (Blue Springs Resort) is an hour north of Nashville and a really nice quarry.

Anyone going diving this Sunday near Nashville?
|
|
|
What’s "near Nashville"? I’m diving somewhere definitely that could range from a 15-20 minute up to 3 hour drive from Nashville.

We were thinking Mermet. Possibly driving up late tomorrow, doing some dives Sat including some night stuff (and by night stuff that means casino after) and then a couple on Sunday.

I was talking with a buddy about possibly diving Mermet Saturday as well. I’ll touch base with him again tonight and see what he says.
If so, we’ll drive up Saturday morning, arriving around 11:00-12:00, make 2 dives, and then drive back Saturday night. I know he already has another commitment on Sunday so we can’t stay over.

Mermet Springs is in Metropolis, IL as soon as you cross out of KY on I-24. It is 3 hours North of Nashville, TN and is one of my favorite dive sites to visit.
Super Friendly staff, excellent amenities onsite, lots of attractions and training platforms underwater, along with a lot of large catfish and a large spoonbill fish population that run up to 6’ in length.
Depths run from 15’-120’ and the "special" attraction is the 727 airplane that was used in the movie U.S. Marshals.

We are south of Nashville and usually head farther south to Madison, AL...very nice quarry-easiest accesses ever...great place to keep up your skills. Not sure how far that would be for you, but might be worth checking out. Also have heard that Martha’s Quarry in Mt. Juliet area (north of Nashville) has improved. (used to be rather difficult in and out and only shore access) I’m sure there’s a forum on here about it if you want to check that out. Good luck and happy diving :)

Is Marthas quarry still open?

Martha’s Quarry is still open and access hasn’t improved at all - I’ve dove it 2 times this year. It is a very rutted dirt road that leads into the woods where you park wherever you can find a hole between the trees. Then you gear up at your vehicle and have a 50 to 100 yard hike to the water. No air fills, no dive shop, no equipment, etc. so you are 100% self sufficient when you get there. Making a 2 tank dive? Then you and your buddy are bringing 4 tanks with you. If you break a fin strap then you have a 25-30 mile drive to find a dive shop to get a replacement.
Once you get in the water the diving is decent but in my opinion it is worth the drive to get a little further away to have a much nicer diving experience.
