I switch from using bags to using a Plano Sportsman hard case. It looks like a black Pelican case but it isn’t water tight, as heavy or as strong. It is rated for Airline use and is maximum sized for that. It has rollers built into one end and if you need more than 1 can be stacked.

I use an "Armor" brand bag. It’s almost 5 years old and still looks almost new. The nylon is a lot more heavy duty than many other bags. (It think it’s got one of the heaviest weaves out there) No wear on the nylon and all the zippers working like the day I got it. I bought it as a set with a packpack that attaches to the bag too. I put my regs & cameras in the backpack and use as a carry on. Once I get where I’m going I hook it to the the bag and roll it around. I tried 2 other bags before I got this one and had the same results you did. Didn’t feel like buying a new bag every year or so. So looked around and have been very happy I did.

I don’t see the one I have, It was almost 5 years, so I’m sure it’s outdated. I was just looking at that #89 the other day. I like it. Mine is similar, but the #89 looks alittle more stream line. Mine is more of an opentop duffle. (kinda sorta) They are great quality bags. I just picked up their rubber coated mesh bag the other day. (haven’t used it yet though) I figured that would be a lot easier to use at the beach or going out on a boat dive. (much easier to store) Don’t need to much protection just going from the car to the boat or car to the beach.

Greg has an awesome dive bag that he’s been using for years. It’s been on several planes. It has rollers and plenty of room for gear. The outside tag says Aquacraft and the inside says Trident Diving Bag. I’ve looked for it online but can’t find it. I’ll ask Greg if he remembers where we got it.

Have you seen the DiveCaddy? It rolls up your gear in a small package but wouldn’t work if you are also carrying camera gear.

I saw it last year at BTS but I had just bought a rolling duffle. I avoid hard cases because there is no place to store them on liveaboards and bags with logos that say "steal me, I have expensive gear inside!".

I saw that there too, but I’m looking more for a transport bag through checked luggage for airline travel. I always carry on computer and reg though.

Yeah, departure bag or departure carry on bag, just google it or go to aqua lung website. Holds full set of gear and it has specially desined fins that go with it, called hot shots fins, smaller version or the sling shots. I bought it and have used it to go to Aruba and Mexico, fits right in the airline overhead and meets standards on all airlines carry ons. Hope this helps
