I am going to the Riviera Maya area of Mexico and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what diving outfit/shop to use. What are the best places to go? My resort is about 10 minutes south of Playa del Carmen.

Thanks,
Teresa

Hola Senorita!!!

Como esta usted? Just returned from Cozumel, and did a couple of dives in Puerto Morelos, not too far from Playa del Carmen. I did the wreck C56, also known as the "Juan Escutia" and also a Cenote called Chikin Ha or "The Western Water." I went with an operator called Ecodiving Tours (ecodivingtours.com) They are good people, and treat you right. Check them on the web, to see if they fit what you are looking for. Enjoy your wet time!!!

my good friend Denis Weeks owns a shop in Puerto Adventuras (close to where you will be staying) and has awesome DM’s and a great shop. Get him to take you on a cavern dive at Taj Mahal, thats my favorite cenote.

When we stayed in Playa, we tried Hidden Worlds outfit to try cenotes. I trusted them because IMAX people did, there’s a DVD call ’Journey into Amazing Caves’ that was filmed there. That trip was awesome, unforgettable, and great people too. Those cenotes are South of Playa, just before Tulum. If you’re apprehensive of cave diving, you can just snorkel there with them and still take amazing underwater pix. Hiddenworlds.com

I hope you’re gonna check out Cozumel too, you don’t wanna miss it, we took a ferry and stayed there for a few days.
