Finding a Buddy

Hey all,

I am new to diving, just having finished up my Open Water dives last weekend, and am now trying to find some people to dive with. Right now, unfortunately none of my friends dive, or can afford to be trained. I would love to be able to find a couple of buddies that I could stick with and join me diving. Currently I am looking around to find a good deal on my gear, and pretty soon will be buying everything except for tank and weights. I live in Maryland near Silver Spring.

Once I have my gear, I am trying to go out fairly frequently, even though I know that around here I’ll be stuck with quarries and Ocean City. But I would love to go out once or twice a month, if not more, since it does not cost much to get Air or Weights.

Hoping this was the right use of the forum, and crossing my fingers that I find a few buddies. Anything else you want to know, just ask. :)

There are 138 current DiveBuddy members in Maryland. Perform a search and start contacting some divers close to you. Arrange a meet and greet and get to know some of your local divebuddy members. And when you go diving, be sure to post some pics on the site!

Good luck and safe diving!

There are alot of good wrecks off Ocean city, African Queen, Blenny, just to name a couple, both around 70 ft deep. I only Know of one boat down there, Mister Ike, Capt Bill Tattersol there may be others. We left from Indian River Inlet last week and did 2 wrecks down that way vis 20-25 water temp around 60
