Can’t speak on behalf of Sony, but I can tell you I LOVE my Gopro. I have the Hero2 and have used it for everything from scuba diving, motorcycle rides and even a time lapse of my pool being built in my back yard. Look at the mounting options and accessories for each. You will end up using a bunch of different mounting things when you start really using the camera. I wore the GoPro during a shark dive in the Bahamas and video was outstanding.
