The headband works fine for me with any mask. In cold water I just put it on then pull my hood over it to ensure it won’t fall off. When not wearing a hood, I just use some type of "dummy cord" to connect it to my gear in case it comes off my head so it won’t get lost. This is normally only a concern in situations such as strong current, wreck penetration, or other tight situations where it may get bumped off my head.
