I dive them year-round, mostly JMR as it generally has best vis. Both Lake Norman and JMR have Paddlefish in them which are really cool. Winter temps are 45 top to bottom. Summer will have several thermoclines with surface reaching 80. Drysuit needed in winter but 7mm wetsuit is sufficient during the summer. You can get by with a 3mm if you don’t plan to go deeper than 25-30 feet in summer. Message me if you ever want to dive with our group.
