Greg, Hello, I actually deal with alot of spearfishing on my boat, also do some shooting myself. I generally with smaller fish will string them and carry them along with me. I find that the real trick is to make sure to "kill" your fish right of the bat...brain it with your knife. Most of the blood will be from the inital kill, and if you stop them from struggling and sending out those "vibs" you are less likely to encounter a problem. But I never attach my fish stringer to myself... I carry it or clip it to the butt of my gun, that way I can easily distance it from me if I need to and my shorts, bcd and rash guard aren`t soaking up "fish". With bigger kills, I string them and send them to the surface on a lift bag. Us a good one..fill it up and let it go...any good dive crew will notice it, and when you surface safetly, your fish is there to admire. That is what the several dozen hunters that are regulars on our boat. Happy hunting and just keep in mind...Safety first, Hunt Second. Have a good day
