Happy early B-Day!! As for your trip to Long Beach. You are in a great location if you want to catch a boat to dive Catalina, or the other islands, but if you want to do beach diving you are going to have to make a choice. Either head south to Laguna Beach, or north toward Palos Verdes and Redondo Beach for the closest diving. You may want to check out the swell conditions to help make your choice. I know right now there has been a SW swell that has closed Laguna to diving most of the week. Have a good time.
