DIVEHEART HOSTS FIRST ADAPTIVE SCUBA DIVING SYMPOSIUM FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES

Diveheart will host the first adaptive scuba symposium on Friday, February 19 from 1-4 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare. The symposium is being held in conjunction with the Our World Underwater Dive Show which follows on February 19-21. The symposium is open to the general public as well as divers and people either interested in or currently involved in the dive industry or dive therapy.

The Adaptive Scuba Symposium will features speakers discussing the benefits of scuba diving for individuals with disabilities and veterans. In addition, professionals will talk about how the growth of adaptive diving will positively impact the dive industry.

“We’re at an important crossroads right now. Over the past months adaptive diving has been receiving unprecedented media attention. Furthermore, medical science is increasingly supporting what we in the dive community already know to be true about the benefits of scuba. We believe that scuba diving, as a therapy, is going to take off during the next several years and we want to make sure that the industry is well positioned to accommodate this growth,” said Jim Elliott, president of Diveheart (www.diveheart.org)
