These old drawings are great, they always show a lighthouse and bluffs that are not there! and the Life Saving station (USCG) right at the wreck scene. I’m guessing the artist never left the newspapers office.

While helping a coworker research the loss of his family aboard a Spanish vessel seized by the USCG in Cape May from pirates and being sailed to NYC by 7 members of his family for auction it sank off Barnegat light, we soon learned that all ships lost off south Jersey were listed as "Lost off Barnegat light". No it’s not the one known as the "Spanish wreck"
