Shaws Cove is a shore accessible salt water dive site, located in Laguna Beach, CA. This dive site has an average rating of 3.48 out of 5 from 80 scuba divers. The maximum depth is 41-50ft/12-15m. The average visibility is 16-20ft/5-6m.

Great dive site for beginners. Often used by dive classes. Can get surgy in the crevice. Makes an even better night dive. Watch the surf over 2 foot, intense shore break. The diving is a breeze during good sea conditions.Directions: Make a left on Fairview Street about 3/4 mile North of Broadway and Pacific Coast Highway Please share in Laguna. The entrance is at the intersection with Cliff.
Excellent spot for both beginners and instructors alike. April 30, 2009 night dive: 1-2’ surf, 2-5’ surge, and poor vis (5-8’) with 2 Night Specialty students. On the surface, this would seem like poor conditions for a dive but after hundreds of dives at Shaw’s, we still got a big surprise. Groups of 3’+ wingspan bat rays were congregating inside the reef and swam circles around us for lengths of time (5 min +) in 2 areas inside the reef! 2 large eels (5-6’+) inside a crevice. 1 large 10-12lb lobster next to the eels. The local female harbor seal ’Sparky’ also followed and played with us for quite a few minutes swimming between our legs and brushing up against us. By far one of the most enjoyable dives at Shaw’s or anywhere in Laguna!

Save some energy for the trek back to your car at the end of the dive! This is a huge training spot for OC dive schools, so it can get crowded. Get there early for best parking, but please be quiet. There are houses close by and noises carry.

Decent dice at Shaw’s, little bit of surf on the entry with a much easier exit. Great to be back in the water with great company
