Rainbow Bridge - CA

Loading...
Rainbow Bridge is a shore accessible fresh water dive site, located in CA 95630. The maximum depth is 26-30ft/8-9m. The average visibility is 16-20ft/5-6m.

Find parking nearby and hike down Jedediah Smith Trail to the right of Rainbow Bridge. Follow the "off tail" to the right of the pedestrian bridge before crossing the water. Keep on going down those boulders and you’ll find a few nice flat rocks to set up on with good entry spots. During the summer/fall this is a great drift dive all the way to Lake Natoma when the current isn’t full blast. I usually get out at the Negro Bar Kayak rental beach. Theres a parking lot right there where you can have your buddies car waiting. My air is usually wight on the money when I get there, and the last bit of the dive is at exactly 15 ft , so no stop needed. Right to the shore and out.

Great rock structures and ravines, Secret deeper spots, old bleached trees, crawfish and trout. I’ve seen salmon a few times. This dive is basically underwater rock climbing.

WARNING: During the Spring thaw and early summer this is a superman-flying drift dive. I do not recommend you do it without someone who knows this dive. There are a few current-flow traps in the rock formations that WILL trap and drown you if you’re not paying attention for the few weeks when the water is moving fast enough in the spring. Don’t bring your 1/2 assed buddy on this dive.
