Shark Arena - Bahamas

Loading...
Shark Arena is a boat accessible salt water dive site, located at Stuart Cove’s Dive Bahamas, Nassau, New Providence Island, Bahamas. This dive site has an average rating of 4.67 out of 5 from 9 scuba divers. The maximum depth is 36-40ft/11-12m. The average visibility is 101-110ft/31-34m. This dive site provides bathrooms and airfills.

Stuart Cove’s description:

Your second dive is a shark feeding dive. Unlike ordinary
dives - you will spend this dive kneeling on the sand bottom. Divers form a
semi-circle in front of our professional shark feeder who will place a bait box.
Your feeder utilizes this bait box and a pole spear to control the release of
food which influences the sharks behavior. While novice shark divers may not
notice it - during the shark feeding dives your feeder tries to keep the sharks
in a "polite" feeding posture. However be warned - the sharks will come close -
very close - but they are more interested in the bait than you!

One of the best dives I’ve experienced!

I took this video at the shark arena in May. youtu.be/JP6OTh0aScM

They never leave. Even when the bait is gone they hang around for the next dive boat
Hank-NYC - 6/07/2017 3:45 PM
@john_gui - Yeah, they basically live around the arena dude to all of the feedings. I would move there too if I was a shark. Free and effortless food 2 twice a day :-)

This is the second part of the shark dive. Be prepared. It will get cold down there, since you are kneeling for an extended period of time. Expect the Carribean Reef Sharks pectoral fins to graze you. Just do it!

This was an experience of a lifetime.

Just got back from a trip that included a dive here. Here’s a link to a photo on Instagram, captured on that dive with a GoPro. The sharks do get close, including bumping into you... and circling around you and bumping into you again.

Would love to do this! Need to find a dive buddy who would be interested.

I know some are against feeding but, where else can you get so close to so many sharks at once. Did this dive a few years back and lucked out, only 3 non-employee divers! It was GREAT. Would do it again if I ever make it back to the island. The staff was very friendly.

I just got back from diving in the Bahamas and the shark adventure with Stuart Cove was great. I did 2 days with them. The staff was fantastic and very professional. Well worth the cost.

I have been to this
site by way of a trip from Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort. True, Sandals does not put bait in the water
but the sharks run to the boat like someone rang the dinner bell. Truth be told
it’s like diving with a pack of pet dogs. I am sure the sharks are much more
animated on the Cove dive with bait in the water, but there were still a lot of
big fish in the water. If you were paying to dive with Cove why not take this
one in. All the diving is included at Sandals except for this shark dive and
night diving. Since I can do two free dives each day with Sandals it is
unlikely I would pay for this trip when I return.
