Las 3 marias are three little islands part of the Isla secas archipelago, facing offshore, this place recommended for advanced divers provides us a nice dive experience. shallow areas with an incredible variety of diferents corals types and a 45mts deep blue waters with big animals.
in this place we found amberjacks, roosterfish, snappers and groupers. if you have a lucky day a big manta ray or a whale shark can change the game.
as deep we go the water temperature goes down. In this place we use 3mm wetsuit and the use of computer is mandatory.

calamiaresort - 7/06/2020 6:04 PM I went scuba diving here on 3/13/2020. Average viz: 61-70ft/19-21m. Water temp: 81-85°F/27-29°C. Very good dive at the Gulf of Chiriqui, this site is not for beginners as is too deep. The day was a little cloudy and the ocean was calmed. We started our activity by the morning high tide. The diver wanted to see a big Cubera Snapper this is why we decided to go to Las 3 Marias which consists of 3 small islands. This spot has two sides, the shallow one and a deeper one. To ensure the safeness of the dive, the first immersion was at a maximum of 30mts. and, the bottom time was no more than 40 minutes, always using 3min for the safety stop. The first drop was straight to the maximum depth where we saw a big grouper under the rocks and a lot of yellow snappers. A few Leather Bass jammed around us and two curious Amberjacks came to inspect us. Still, no signs of the big Cubera snapper. After 20 minutes we moved to the shallow area and spent the last ten minutes of this dive on the reef. We saw a few hidden lobsters and a big moray eel swimming out of the rocks. After one hour on the surface, and some energy bars, we moved to our second spot to the backside of the small islands. This dive was shallow, compared to the first one. The presence of healthy corals provides a home to some interesting fish species such as Barberfish, Chancho Surgeonfish, Moorish Idol, also we saw some colorful small fishes, and then we were lucky to spot a 10-year-old (approximately) CuberaSnnaper nice and red big fish swimming fast from one rock to a small cave where disappear. this dive finished with the happiness of see a old fish in a natural environment.
