Built during the second World War II, the Wolfe Islander II was to be delivered to China like a gift by the Government of Canada. China became communist and Canada decided to keep the Wolfe. It was used as a ferry boat for 30 years betwwen Kingston and Wolfe Island. It could carry 164 cars on its decks.

The ferry was sank to become an artificial reef for the pleasures of divers.

The Wolfe Islander II has a lot to offer. The wreck has been modified to make it more secure for the divers. The doors have been taken away and all the harzardeous places have been rearranged. Don’t be surprised to find a mortorcycle on the deck, golf balls and sticks, humoristics messages, etc. The Wolfe Islander II is a real playground for the divers.

There is no current on the dive site. The site is relatively easy for diving. The Wolfe is a site of a choice for the divers who want to try a new piece of equipment or to get trained to dive for a specific type of dives.

Like all the shipwrecks in Ontario, the shipwreck is Ontario’s Goverment property and therefore it is stricly forbidden to take any objects.

The Wolf Islander II is a great wreck for diving. There are a number of items on the deck. These include a motorcycle (whose parking ticket has long since blown away in the current), a number of bowling balls (great for having a game of volleyball), and a bicycle. The Wolf is one wreck that is just plain fun to dive. Not a deep or tech dive just simply a fun dive. Lots to see and do and usually a ton of small fish to enjoy as well.
