Watched too much Deadliest Catch
Nautibeagle - 10/23/2009 12:24 AM
No dive trips this year. Have blown the budget on a new fishing boat. Decided sailing was not doing it for me and bought the boat before I had a buyer for the yacht. When I am not working or fishing, working on lessons for the web site: Deadliest Catch Bible Study, to find it click on the link htpp://www.dcbs.us...

Tortuga , my Bristol yacht that I work on more than sail, may be on it’s way shortly to another owner. It has slowly been weathering, rarely used. Takes up to an hour to get ready to get under way. I really need a full day free to use it. Forget trying to fish on it and it would be very difficult to set or retrieve any Chesapeake Crab Pots with it. It was good for me back in 2001, a show boat at the Southhall Landings Marina during the Hampton years. Call it mid-life crisis, or even some sailing...
Trip Report Cozumel in June
Nautibeagle - 8/04/2009 10:30 PM
Trip Report Cozumel 6/23-6/30/2009 Actually got in the water on day of arrival as connections on Continental from Richmond actually ran on schedule for a change. So I started with a leisurely 56 minute dive at the shore in front of Hotel Cozumel. Welcome tank courtesy of Dive Paradise. It had been almost 2 years since my last visit to Hotel Cozumel, little has changed same quality service, same well manicured gardens, same good food (warning: I tend to be easy to please with food). 6/24 - First ...
Back to the Brac Again
Nautibeagle - 11/11/2008 3:02 PM
Cayman Brac October 27- November 3, 2008 (before Hurricane Paloma) Back to the Reef Resort to burn another week of vacation time. The resort had sustained some damage back in August with Hurricane Gustav. However, during this visit what was left of the dock was enough for the dive operation to use. The double-deck dock that had the swings and the hammocks was still being torn down. Also, the new Tipsy Turtle bar was open for business. It is big and roomy but has not yet developed any character. ...
Cayman Brac 2008
Nautibeagle - 9/02/2008 11:13 PM
Trip Report Cayman Brac 8/16-23/ 2008 It had been two years since my last trip to Brac Reef Resort and diving with Reef Divers. This time I was making the trip with a new Dive Computer, New BC and a Octo that supposedly has been serviced. I was also making this trip without a camera, never had replaced since I dropped my Reefmaster on the deck in Cozumel. On the day of arrival I met 2 couples from Maine, Simon-Peter and Sheila with their Grand-daughter Hanna, and Bill and Charlene, and we ate to...
Cozumel 2007
Nautibeagle - 5/16/2007 12:00 AM
Just got back from Coz late Monday night. The reefs are re-covering from hurricane Wilma which basicaly plowed away the large sponges and corals but I noticed some improvement since December 2005. Little ones are starting to gorw back. Lots of turtles. It does seem like the list of available dives sites has shrunk, at least far as Dive Paradise goes. But, still excellent diving. Dive Paradise has most of the same staff and I got to talk to my old friend Victor (Bictor). And as usual going buddy-...
Cayman Brac - 2006
Nautibeagle - 2/12/2007 12:00 AM
Trip Report: Cayman Brac, May 9 - 16, 2006 First thing I need to say about Brac Reef Beach Resort, is that it seems to cater to those that dive. It is basically, a Dive Lodge with an excellent buffet, a beach, a bar and a very well run dive shop - Reef Divers. The real attraction is the diving. The on-site dive op provides “valet” service. You do not touch your gear. The Morning of your first dive day you leave it outside your door in a numbered bag they provide and do not haul it again until af...
Coz 2005 Post Wilma (Brief) Coz 2005 Post Wilma (Brief)
Nautibeagle - 2/12/2007 12:00 AM
The trip went well (12/6-13). Due to weather delay in RIC I had to be routed onto a later flight to Cancun. The flight was virtually empty. Transfers to Coz were no problem. Hotel Cozumel looks in very good shape. Workers going non-stop on the beach club and on the dinning room at the hotel. Dive Paradise gear lockers look like they will be ready soon. There were few divers and most of the time only one boat leaving the dock. One day there was only four of us and we were upgraded to the fast boa...
