I was talking to a few friends the other day about diving. It was mentioned to me that I should go for my Dive master/ Instructor certifacations. I gave it a lot a thought and writing this blog may help me explain why I dont. I have a bunch of friends that are DM/Instructor level and I have talked to them. I truely love to dive and help others learn to dive. I have met alot of DM/Instructors that seem to thing they are gods. I have also met alot that are the nicest people I have ever met. I feel that I can be just as helpful to a new diver as anyone can be. I do not need a card to tell me I know what I am talking about. I think it all comes down to the old saying "When something that you love doing becomes a job, it aint fun anymore" That and the legal stuff I hear about. I have my own boat and I dive alot. I take the courses, educate myself to be the best diver I can be. If you and I were to dive together you would know I have your back and thats all I ask of my dive buddy as well. I have many times taken newer divers out and gave them a few tips on what to do and what not to do and why. I just have no desire to make it a legally responsable job. Plain and simple. I will never stop enjoyong this great sport, learning as much as I can and helping others. Isnt that what it is all about after all
