Dry TortugasIn 2005 my wife (Kathie) and I flew to Ft Myers, Florida to visit my mother and to go on a five day live aboard with "Utimate Getaway". The trip included a stop at Fort Jefferson and up to five dives per day. This trip we got our Nitrox certification. The trip including the boat, people and the dive sites were fantastic. The only thing that may have made it better was if Kathie had of discovered "triptone" sooner!!! As it was she remained sick unless she was in the water. In fact she was the first one off the boat at every dive site. The weather got a little rough on the last day so we were only able to get one dive in. This dive on the Baja Califonia was breathtaking. Even with poor viz and dark water I will never forget the site of the bow (standing up) appearing out of the darkness. Definitley a trip worth looking into!!

Hi there,

Our dive club, went out with the Ultimate Getaway and I enjoyed the time there with them. While live aboards are not for everyone it was a great time away for me and I only sat out on one dive. We were one of the last trips of the year & the vis was good. The Ultimate Getaway’s vessel is an older one, 1972 I believe, but nice & a great crew just the same. I will remember the air start Detroit engines as you don’t see, or better hear, too many of these any more.

It has been my experience that when the dive activity cancels a trip there has never been a problem receiving our funds back. Compensation for other things is a different matter. I am sorry that this happened to you leaving a bad taste but I do not think any diving activity would last if this were the norm.

Next year the club is headed to the Galapagos Islands with the Aggressor. I am sure that will be a once in a lifetime event.

Take care and Best Fishes!! `•.¸¸.•´¯`•.¸>

I booked a trip with Ultimate Getaway 4 years ago to the Tortugas. If I hadn`t called the morning I was to leave I`d been in Ft Meyers with nothing to do. They cancelled th trip. I got no refund on my deposit nor any type of adjustment for not using my air fare. ( I had to pay an extra $100 to use my flight later to go somewhere else. This company left a bad taste in my mouth. jOHN
