Just returned from my trip to Hawaii! Had a great time and wonderful diving with Maui Dive Shop! We dove the Wreck of the ST. Anthony and Red Rock on the first dive trip. I was great to see turtles again and the abundant marine life there. The wreck is at about 65 to 70 feet deep and is 65 feet long. Visibility was in the 85 foot range. OH and did I mention having the Humpback whales singing to us!!!! What a treat that was. Red Rock is on the Southern most end of Maui. We actually went around the southern tip of Maui. Current was a little stronger there but not bad. There was less marine life there but still we saw what we wanted to see.

Our second trip was out at Molikini Crater, this is the second time in five years I have dove at Molikini, and Ben Gun Cove. Molikini is just a great dive with lots of Marine Life. I didn’t see any White tips on this trip like I have in the past, but I was diving at reefs end. The White tips tend to hang out more at the other end of Molikini, the side closer to Maui. Visibility was great too! Then we moved over to Ben Gun Cove Which is just up the shoreline aways from Ma’alea harbor. This dive was unique because of the swim through that we found and the fish, eels and octopus. We were still serenaded by the Whales and both dive sites.

Our third trip was the Second Cathedrals out and Lanai’i. This trip made the whole vacation worth it all. If you haven’t dived the Cathedrals you are missing a really great dive. Then we went to a dive site called No Name. While we were doing our surface interval we had a Cow-calf Humpbacks come within a 150 feet of our boat the Maka Koa! What a great site to see. We saw lots of fish varieties and eels and octopus’. Our trip back to the harbor was a bit rough as this is the time of year when the weather is changing and the sea’s can be a bit rough from thime to time. But the visibility was absolutely the best they have had at Lanai’i for some time according to the crew!!

All in all GREAT TRIP and even better DIVING, too bad I am now back in Idaho and freezing to death!!!!LOL Maui Dive Shop and the crews on the Maka Koa and the Ali Kai were the best and I would recommend them to anyone anytime!!! I will add some pictures shortly too!!
