Dive the Best of Bali PADI Asia Pacific visits members on Bali and Gili Trawangan
PADI Asia Pacific’s Management team held its latest Regional Manager meeting on the beautiful islands of Bali and Gili Trawangan in Indonesia from 14-18 September.

PADI chose the location to welcome Tony Andrews as the latest Member of the Asia Pacific Regional Manager team. Tony is a PADI Course Director with many years of experience in Resort locations and now lives on Bali. This location also provided a great opportunity for PADI staff to visit the region in Asia that has shown the greatest growth for PADI diver certifications over the last few years.

Bali and its neighboring Islands provide a central position offering easy access for PADI’s Regional Managers who reside across Asia.
While Bali’s wide variety of attractions, its physical beauty and idyllic year-round climate make it a location regarded by many travellers as the "Ultimate Island", Gili Trawangan is often referred to as the Perfect Island and the perfect getaway.

Faced with a choice to present the meetings on the Ultimate Island or the Perfect Island, PADI found it an easy decision to visit both.

PADI’s team of 9 Regional Managers are located in Malaysia, Australia, Philippines, Thailand, China, Korea and Indonesia and represent 42 Countries in the Asia Pacific Region.

Presenters and planners included Henrik Nimb (Vice President, Marketing, Education & Business Development), John O’Brien (Director, Member Services & IRRA), Mike Holme (Director, Training & Quality Management), Mark Spiers (Manager Sales & Field Services) and Danny Dwyer (Manager Marketing & Business Development). The latest meeting allowed the team from PADI Asia Pacific to meet with Members in Gili Trawangan and Bali and included recent reviews of the dive industry and how PADI can assist the Membership with their future business plans.

The team also had the opportunity to meet with over 150 PADI Members at 2 social events during their stay in Indonesia. The first event was held at the beautiful Vila Ombak Resort on Gili Trawangan where 70 PADI Members relaxed and mingled with PADI staff under the stars. The second social was held on Bali where 80 PADI Members enjoyed a fun evening at the Sanur Paradise Plaza Hotel.

During their stay on Gili Trawangan the PADI Management team had the privilege to spend an afternoon with Mr. Muhammad Taufik, Chief Village of Gili Indah and Mr. Zainudin, Chief Village of Gili Trawangan as well as representatives from the Gili Eco (Environment and Community) Trust to discuss the environmental impact of tourism on Gili Trawangan.

Henrik Nimb thoroughly enjoyed his visit and commented “It was a great opportunity to meet with our Members and discuss their wonderful lifestyle as well as the local issues they face in their day to day working activities. We also had the pleasure to meet with Mr. Taufik, Chief Village of Gili Indah and Zainudin, Chief Village of Gili Trawangan and Members from the Gili Eco Trust and we look forward to working with them on local Environmental issues in the future”.

PADI would like to thank and congratulate all Members in Indonesia for the fantastic work they do introducing people from all over of the globe to the wonders of the underwater world. We look forward to working with you in the years to come.
