Aquarius Aquanaut Dies............. Body: For those of us who choose to venture into extreme environments, the risk and danger involved with our every venture becomes accepted, almost as second nature.

Sometimes, something happens that reminds us of our total dependancy on our own level of fitness, skill & experience and the proper function of our life support equipment. And so it is that I must sadly relay the following news:

On Tuesday, 5 May 2009, fellow Aquanaut Dewey Smith, who was a research & support diver with UNCW/NOAA Aquarius underwater habitat, died during an excursion in the waters near the habitit.

Details are few at this time and the incident is still under investigation.

The official News Release can be found at:

May our thoughts and prayers be with Dewey Smith’s family as well as with the "Aquarius" habitat projects "family"

Ok, Thanks...

It shows me that the link is disabled also, but only when I follow it from DiveBuddy.com. Don’t know why.

I have it posted on MySpace also and it works there.... I also followed it from the original correspondence that I received from UNCW "Aquarius" Staff and it still works. Maybe there is some conflict with the code and this site...?

Thanks again
