Back in the 1970s, a diving catalog referred to scuba diving as “A Man’s World.”
Not anymore.

The Baltimore DC Dive Show (DCDiveShow.com) has gathered some of the world’s most prominent underwater adventurers, award winning photographers and film makers, shark ecologist and explorers. For the most part they reside within the mid-Atlantic region. All are women!

“I couldn’t be more excited to have this group come together in Washington, DC, this year!” says Brian Miller, the show producer. “I was looking for talent in general. But I wanted the most visible individuals who were achieving at the highest levels in their trade, two names surfaced very quickly Schott and Zenato.”

In searching for a photographer to accent the work Cristina Zenato does with sharks, two other names kept appearing,” Miller continues. One garnered international awards for shark images and another produced a film with Cristina as the main character. Both women. “That’s when I asked my wife, my closest advisor, what she thought of having several key speakers at our theater event, all the highest achievers in their field, all women. She was very enthusiastic.”

Tanya Houppermans
Tanya Houppermans is an ocean conservationist and professional underwater photographer best known for her images depicting the grace and beauty of sharks. Her photographs and articles have appeared in print and online publications in over 20 countries.

When another close advisor for the Show, Amos Nachoum, saw who would be lining up the evening event in Washington, he suggested who he felt would be the best Master of Ceremonies.

Nancy McGee
