My Dive trip to LORETO, Baja California Nov 1- 4, 2007 Airfare: LAX RT approx. $350 Hotel : http://www.posadadelasflores.com/ Hotel report: Beautiful hotel. Centrally located downtown and a walk to everything. The only problem was it was EXTREMELY noisy until about 4am. With loud cars, bars playing loud music, the church bells, airplanes flying overhead, cars with loudspeakers shouting news in Spanish. With an early wakeup call, I would NOT recommend this hotel for divers-pick something near the beach 2 streets up. The hotel tried to be cool by offering a pool on the rooftop that was see-thru so you could look down into the lobby and vice versa. It looked uninviting, cool and was therefore skipped! hallway pool is that grid thingy in ceiling The restaurants offered Greek, Italian, Mexican and wonderful ambiance and outside dinner. Pricing for food was moderate. The town is basically like being in Arizona, with its cacti and hills and deserts, yet we are in Mexico. The weather was dry and mid 80s the whole time. The town itself is quaint and filled with friendly people that smiled as we passed on the dusty cobblestone streets. Dive day: Friday Nov. 2, 8:30am a 5 minute walk from hotel. www.dolphindivebaja.com tell Bruce Valentina sent you! Dived Coronado Island # 6 and 7 Dive site # 1 Water temp: 77 Degrees Saw sea slug, Balloonfish, Starfish, Sargeant Majors, seals swam with us Dive site # 2 Water temp: 74 Degrees (felt way cooler than before) hit a thermocline This site offered many various schools of fish; Queen Angelfish, King Angelfish, Snapper. Summary: Would I come here again? Yes, knowing what I know now! Town shuts down as far as partying goes, this is not really a party town, unless you bring your own party group! The town is cute and easy to get around to everything by walking. It is safe for women travelers. Different seasons might deliver Hammerheads, Blue Whales, Mantas, and Humboldt Squid, so I would definitely correspond travel with those times!
