It seems like I can only take a nice trip in between jobs, so that’s what I doing. Considering this time of year & a place that’s not too expensive for a single diver, where would you go? I’m currently looking @-Roatan, Honduras; or Belize; or Tortugas, FL; or Bonaire (northern portion); ?I’ve enjoyed the following but would like to try something new-Cayman Isl, St. Thomas/St. Maarten; Maui, HI;Cozumel, MX; Flower Gardens (Freeport, TX);

Symposium

When I lived in Niagara Falls back in the 90’s, I use to attend an annual conference in Toronto called Underwater Canada. You would have presentations, workshops, & different social activities as well as equipment vendors & resort operators from all over. Is there anything like that here in the States? I’ll be [ at ] the Maui Coast resort in Maui 3/2-6/10. I’ll probably extend my stay & add a cruise to do a little island hopping. I would appreciate any tips (recommended dive shops/island, dive sites/island, dive gear to use this time of year, &/or just general travel tips). Do I need to bother w/a rental car or can I shore dive from the resort? Are dive shops willing to pick up a solo diver? Does anyone have any experience w/cruising the islands? Can I pick up the cruise in Maui vs flying to Oahu? Should I take the dive excursion thru the cruise ship (pricey) or make my own diving arrangements (potential hazzle)? Thanks!
