Where are the dive vacation deals?

Trying to plan a dive vacation for the end of May and keep hearing on the news how travel is down so many vacation destinations have great deals. I have been searching and haven’t come up with any ’great deals’. Looking to dive in the Carribean. Anyone have any luck finding these ’deals’?

Thanks!

My wife and I found some deals for Cozumel and cheap air fare to various locations. For diving...check out areas devastated by the last Hurricane season. The British Virgin Islands had some specials recently. Try your basic websearch for a location and include "scuba or scuba diving" and you’ll get some good results.

Another option is call and negotiate a price with the dive shop/hotel combo you are looking at. If the time of the year is slow they will be willing to go down a bit on price (in some areas).

Try working directly with the dive shop/boat or hotel running the dives to get the best deals. Also, if you are willing to cook don’t overlook condos...we found a few who were cheaper than a hotel for a week long stay once we played hard ball on the price.

Good luck.

Hey Divegirl,

that is what we have on offer: http://www.aquanautsgrenada.com/special.htm .

You can get a direct flight out of Miami on American.

Great destination, wreck, reef and drift diving.

Depends on what you deem a "good deal". For my two cents...

Roatan, Honduras has the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world. Direct flights from major U.S. hubs. May is a hot month but a good month because it is after the big Easter week and before schools get out. You can easily find lodging rigth on the biggest beach (west end) for less then $100/night.

We’ll be returning there the last week of May if that’s any kind of endorsement!

Yea, I know what you mean. I was hoping to do a long weekend somewhere semi-close and inexpensive over Memorial Day weekend, but I haven’t found anything yet. Some places have great hotel deals but airfare is up, or it’s the opposite! Let me know if you run across anything intersting! MK
