Any of you that know anything about dive insurance? Our organization is looking for something like our local dive shops uses...a blanket policy where several people can be covered. Any insurance folks out there?

As an instructor I have looked at insurance options. Our organization has instructors that are independent and others that are dedicated to one shop. This does not present a problem for us as we are flexible in how we conduct our business of introducing others to the wonders of the aquatic world. I have retained independent insurance because I work for not only our organization but others. While more expensive, the other insurance is about ½ of what I now pay, it allows me to work with any shop or other instructor and not have to worry about crossing insurance lines. I would ensure that all those covered under the insurance you provide can cover those acting as part of your organization as well as independent training / working with others before I commit.

I am currently insured through the company and policy that is offered through my certifying agency. I know that they offer various policy options, both for the individual instructor and for the shop/boad.


I know that DAN has a few options.


I worked for a facility once that catered to all agencies and that offered unusual diving opportunities. They were insured by an organization called Worldwide Outfitters & Guides Association. I don’t know any thing recent about them, but I do have their website. It might be worth checking them out. http://www.insureguides.com/

well i have dan ins and a few months ago i used them when i wasnt sure if i had drysuit squeeze bruises or skin bends and they were top notch, not only that they kept up with my condition for several days via phone! and i have not had to pay out of pocket !!!! I rated dan a 10 diver health was number one, they didnt seem to worry about the payout dan was going to have to pay!
