I use a computer & a watch on every dive. I dive according to my computer but I also time my dive with my watch in case the computer fails. This way I have some idea of the time I spent on the dive profile in the event of computer failure.

I use both, my computer is a Uwatec Smart Z and I have a Suunto Mosquito for a back up.

wow. and i thought having three extra batteries and a table on my BC was back-up enough.
I suppose it’s time to get that wrist puck bottom timer that I was eye-ballin.

I also use both also. I had a console computer, but I’m moving to a Nitek in a week or so. I guess I’ll just have a heavy left wrist. :) Dale

I have never had a computer fail while dive in progress but have always used a plain old watch as back up on dives beyond 50-60. With main concern being saftey stops, due to constant air level checks. I use my trusty Invecta or rolex divemasters both are automatics not batteries, and I make sure I set the outer ring so I know the time limit I have. I have also after 6 months finally started fully trusting my Air integrated comp, but I still make sure I take a watch down on any advanced type dive no matter what, as well as a 19 cu pony.

I dive with a computer in line with my air supply and a Citizen Aquatech dive watch for back up information...and because it looks cool. Can’t look to cool while you’re cheating death. Good idea, though, about the shark taking an arm and keeping the watch and computer separate.
