Hey DB’s.
New to scuba. Started my OW cert at Aquatic Adventures SDI in March and completed in San Pedro Belize last month. Have put together some equipment and would like to start checking out the quarries. 2 of my friends completed their certs with me so depending on their schedule it may be a group thing.

Anyone have any plans to go to the quarries in the next month or so that wouldnt mind some noobs to tag along?

Never dived there before only water skied. The lake has a sunken town at the bottom of the lake about 30ft down from the Fairfield causeway by the golf course. You can enter by shore here or rent a boat from the Quaker town marina. (Pontoon boat for $160. Or $80 split) . $9.fee for park entrance need to sign a wavier at the DNR office have open water cert. and a inflatable diver down bouy. I have a flag for boat. If we go that route. All questions about the lake are on line for in-depth details.

I could probably get 3-5 people to go on that trip so the price would just get better.
I cant find any info on dive shops or locations on the lake. Able to post any links/maps?

Right now only have a 3/2 suit. That suitable for the water there?

I just sent my tank off for a hydro test so itll be about 2 weeks until I get it back which should work out pretty good for putting in some time to organize a dive.

I’m off on weekends.
Depending on what my kiddo wants to do on Friday I may be available on Saturday mornings.
Sunday morning we normally reserve for kayaking but I could probably convince people to dive instead.
Currently my only 2 dives are in a inside training pool and my OW in Belize where in both cases the water was nice and warm so I’m really not sure what my temperature tolerance will be in my suit so I’m open to suggestion on when and where to go just to see what Ohio waters are like.

If you’re really eager to dive, I could bring a tank for you (assuming standard yoke regulator). Anyway, feel free to message me or respond here when you think you might want to dive. Week nights could work too maybe while the days are still pretty long. Dove Circleville today after work — very low visibility, but fun. A 3/2 wetsuit would have been fine there today (low 70s, I think). Eventually, you’ll probably want something thicker if you are diving Ohio quarries. (More neoprene also means you need more weight, of course.)

We have done a few dives in the Caribbean. The dive master asked us why we were all staying so close. We told him it was because in Ohio we were used to feeling lucky if we could see the fins of the person ahead of us. (It’s usually not quite that murky — only sometimes.)
