my dive rescue team is about to go and use our new side scan sonar to recover two weapons used in a homicide. the members of are team are pretty much new on the team with most having less than a year of diving experiance. i think that we are going to do this in a couple of stages due to the fact that the case is over a couple of years old already. first we are going to use our sonar to map out the bottem of the lake that it is in and then we will do the diving on another day. we are going to map the lake into grids and work it one section at a time marking any hits from the sonar. my question is this if any public safty diving teams would work it this way or are there better ways of going about this? input is greatly appriciated. michael
