North-East Winter Shore Dive Buddy

There are so many good sights to see between the NY and NJ coast, and I mean to continue my frequent diving activity regardless of the winter weather approaching. Checking the current average water temperatures, I feel this is quite manageable with a good dry suit and a adequate warmth layer(s).

I am looking for a dive buddy(ies) (group - should such a community exist), motivated in extending the adventure into the cooler season. I am an "Advanced Open Water" diver with approximately 10 years of experience. 35 dives logged with varying experiences including some night diving and wall diving, frequent wreck diving and plenty good old "look at pretty fish" diving.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you are interested in diving into the winter, or should you know of groups, meet-ups or communities active during this season.

Regards,

Ian.

Ian,
If I get over my cold, i will dive this weekend.
Maybe MI or Shark River inlet.
I dive wet so this might be my last dive of the year.

Sounds great to me, let’s touch base nearing the weekend and orchestrate from there.

Ian,
No good for this weekend.
Got out of my commitment, but I am still sick.

Ian and I met up on Sat 12/3 morning - pretty crappy viz - about a foot and a half when it was clear. As well the white caps were about a foot tall - the wind was picking up even more after we were done diving. But we got wet and got to meet each other.

The Coast Guard and State Police were flying helicopters when we got there and after we left - I am assuming something bad (lost fisherman or diver) happened. They were flying at least 2 hours constantly so I hope they find the body or whoever they were looking for just stranded and unharmed...

Ian is looking to continue to dive in this crazy weather so if anyone is interested...

Looks like it was a jumper off the bridge...
