What dive plans do you recommend for the new Dutch Springs visitor?

I visited Dutch Springs for the first time last week and did 3 dives. I had some buddies that made our recommended dives. Since I am renting an 80 tank my dive time is limited especially for deeper dives. Does anyone simply surface swim to attractions and ascend down the buoy line? I’m assuming that is what they are there for. I’m thinking of hitting the trolley car on my next visit.

What plans do you recommend? I’d like to get 4 dives in on my next trip out. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I have not dove that "side" of the spring yet. I’ve only dove the other side. (The wrecks seem shallower on the other side, student side). ill also be using aluminum 80’s I rent them from a shop down the road from Dutch lehigh valley dive center. lvdive.com. I don’t have very good breath control so my air doesnt last to long. And my compass skills are lacking so dropping down from a buoy is a fail safe option for me.

We can dive any side you want. Last week I did the bus, Cessna, crane and a few of the boats. I have done only one deep dive to 106’ in the ocean for my AOW class so if you want to stay above 60 I’m good with that. Hope to get 4 dives in on 8/10 and explore more.

We dove the hell out of Dutch Springs when we started diving, it’s great fun!
I still enjoy a few annual trips there.

Yes in my opinion it’s best to take an easy surface swim to the marker and descend. Just don’t over do it getting there.
This obviously leaves you plenty of air to enjoy the attraction, and you can either come back under water or surface swim out.

Surface swimming is a pain in the @$$, and the ears if you drop down then come up to go to the next thing and drop down again.

I recommend some of the following routes, all of which can be easily navigated by following ropes:

Start from Peninsula East Ramp, follow line from dock to platform, rope from platform to bus, rope from bus to Cesna, rope from Cesna to boat, to Comet, go up wall right next to Comet and end up almost right back at the dock you started at.

Start from Peninsula West Ramp, follow rope to platform, rope to Crane, follow island next to Crane heading left (East) until you see the rope up to the Cesna, go up to Cesna if you wish, then follow that rope to the boat and then the Comet. Take the line off the bow of the Comet up to the same platform you started at and then the rope back to the original dock you started.

Start from the student side, follow rope from fire truck to bus, to cesna, to tanker, to boat, to van, back to fire truck.

Or, fire truck, bus, cesna, Comet, then follow north wall back to student side docks.

Now, if you leave the lines:

Peninsula West, follow wall toward AquaPark. When you see the cables holding the docks around the AquaPark, turn left and follow the edge of the AquaPark (big concrete blocks with cables going up). When you get to the end of that, you should be able to see the Trolley more or less straight ahead of you. From here you can go perpendicular off the center of the Trolley down the cliff to a Chevelle at 80 or 90 feet. Return the same way.

From the Tanker, which you can reach as detailed above via ropes, go perpendicular off the center toward the wall. Straight up that back wall you will find another, older, Cesna. From here you can turn east and follow that wall all the way around to the pumphouse and then continue around back to the student side at shallow depths.
