Anyone currently using a Oceanic OCI? Thoughts?

I’m in the market for a new DC and I’ve been searching the depths of the internet comparing them all. I’m leaning towards the Oceanic OCI however I’m open to input from those who have used one before and of course other ideas.

I dive with the OCI and a Atomic Cobalt as well. They run fairly equivalent algorithms. I have the black with the chrome bezel. My buddy has the black on black. If I had to change I would go with the black on black as my chrome scratched quickly. As to operations - I really prefer it over the Cobalt simply because I prefer a wrist mount for easier viewing - especially on safety stops. I have not used it in a deco situation.......yet.

Biggest issue with them is battery replacement. Typically needs to be sent into manufacturer for a change.

Thank you for that information. That gives me concern with the battery. After reading the manual it says in it to send it into an authorized dealer or manufacturer for replacement. I’d much rather have something user friendly and swappable.

A colleague of mine recently pointed me towards the shearwater computers. Takes any double as out there for the most part. They also just came out with a slimmer version of their petrel 2 called the perdix. I just need to give it a little more time before I poll people on here again to see what their thoughts are on the perdix. Right now that’s was I’m now leaning towards.

The Petrel 1’s, Petrel 2’s & Perdix will take any AA battery. Does best with the Saft14500 lithium battery, but can use any. The Predator will only take the Saft 14500. I have 3 Shearwater Petrel 1’s I use for both Tech & Rec diving. They are bulletproof.
