Has anyone been to either one of these? Ive heard both places are great and ive heard people say each is better then the other. Was thinking of driving down to one of them here soon for a couple days so any info would be great.

Yes, I dive both 3 to 4 times a year. For the most part Clear Springs I think has a little more visibility, but Athens has a few more things to dive and it is for us more convenient. However, Athens has NO fish and Clear Springs has some pretty big cat fish, bass, and bream. The thing that I don’t like about Clear Springs is that most of the “good” entrances with shade and accommodations are reserved by the dive shops out of Dallas most of the season. Both provide good diving if you are looking for something close and for the weekend.

YOU CAN GET A LITTLE MORE OUT OF EATHER IF YOU CHECK WHEN THEY HAVE SOME EVENTS GOING ON ...IT’S ALWAYS NICE TO GO HOME WITH A LITTLE SOMETHING EXTRA.....RIGHT? CLEAR SPRINGS IS GREAT TO SNORKLE THE SHORE LINE . SEE IF YOU CAN FIND THE PLACE WHERE THE FISH HOOVER OVER THEIR NEST...(HINT ,ITS WHERE NOBODY DIVES AND JUST NORTHWEST OF THE UNDERWATER TREES).
