Has anyone tried the slingshot fins by Aqualung?

I actually won a pair of SlingShots at my local dive club. I’ve tried them twice. In a word, I hate them. I am not comfortable diving with them at all. I get crampy and feel like I am "bicycling" rather than "kicking". If you are near Dutch Springs, let me know I’d be happy to let you try them for a dive or two.

I guess it is up to the individual. I’ve had mine for six months, I bought the first ones at my shop. I really like mine. Like anything new it takes some getting use to. Now that I have been using them for a while I get more power with less stress than my other fins. They work on long dives as well as dives in current.

I do agree that it represents more breaking points though, it’s fair point. I believe they are constructed well enough that with pre dive inspections you should be able to predict if something is wrong. The one thing I notice is more silting on fresh water and contained spaces like wrecks, so I bought a smaller fin with water distribution desing for those situations, which has solved that problem.

I would recomend the slingshot to any friend of diver, but you do have to get use to them.

Yep, I’ve tried them. Nope, didn’t like them at all. A budy of mine had a demo pair because he owns a dive shop and took them on a weekend trip with us. Made one dive with them and it was plenty of time to know that I wouldn’t buy a pair.
