I will be living in Chicago over the next 2-3 weeks for work and would like to dive lake Michigan. I’m on my own and need a buddy to dive with. I’m not sure where to go other than what I’ve read online. I have most the gear I need I just need to rent a tank and weights. Any advice helps.

I am about an hour and a half from Chicago and would love to dive Lake Michigan but never have. I could do a weekday or weekend depending on your availability. I am a fairly new diver but very comfortable in the water. I’m at almost 40 dives going to start DM this winter. But i have never been in BIG water always been inland lakes and quarries.

Which boat to do basically depends on what you want to see. I have been doing a lot of looking online. I was thinking 2 shallow [60 ft you can do from IN to WI border. Plenty of merchant ships to check out. this is the charter i was looking at.

I would do a 2 tank out of the Hammond marina. They also do tank rentals not sure but i think they will bring them to the boat for you.

Floral Hill and the IL/Holly barge. My instructor is usually free on Thursdays an weekends if we do that i could finish my wreck cert.
