I will be visiting family in Newport News in August 1-5 2014 and I would like to do a day of diving while I am there. Would like someone who knows the dive sites and area OR recommend a dive shop or charter that would be good for 1 day of diving. I have been diving for 7 years in the Puget Sound and have my advanced cert with nitrox. I am use to diving in 46-56 degree water and appreciate any info you might be able to give. I see some of the sites are pretty shallow off the coast of Virginia Beach area. What is the water temp at that time of year? do you use wet suits or dry suits? I have all my gear and can bring it with me.

The only operator I know of in the area is Lynnhaven Dive Center, ldcscuba.com. They run trips on the dive boat Miss Lindsey. I have not dove with them so can not vouch for the operation.
