A blog, short for "web log", is an internet based article usually written by an amatuer writer. I have compiled a short list of the types blogs I allow on DiveBuddy. If your content does not meet this criteria, your blog may be removed:

Allowable blogs (not a complete list):
  • A summary or detailed account of a recent dive trip you’ve been on or a dive site you’ve visited.
  • An accurate and informative educational article that pertains to scuba diving.
  • A biography about yourself or someone you know in the diving industry.
  • An opinion or rating of dive equipment you own or have tested.
  • Information on new dive equipment or instructions on how to use certain equipment.
  • Photography and Videography suggestions or tips on how to take better shots. A gallery of your scuba related photos or videos is also acceptable.

What is NOT allowed:
  • A blog that only contains a link to another website. Links are allowed as long as the blog contains other useful content.
  • Request for dive buddies (use Search or Forum)
  • Solicitation for an event or dive trip (use Calendar)

The Forum or Calendar section may be more suitable for the things you want to share that aren’t considered blogs. If you have questions or are not sure where to put your content, please reply to this topic.

Thanks,

Greg

You can also just put the Blog in the Personal category...that way it shows up on your profile, but not in the main blogs section unless someone requests to see Personal blogs specifically. You can write any kind of Blog in the Personal category.

For trips, use the Calendar section. Anyone can go to Edit Profile > Events to add new calendar items. For used items for sale, I’d recommend Ebay (why re-invent the wheel) OR you can use the For Sale category in the Forum if you want to.

I have started giving reward points to quality blogs again. Once you write a blog, I will review it and reward up to 10 points based on content. It may take me a few days to review your blog.

Are retro-dated entries allowed? I have a dive blog on another platform but I don’t especially like the format available at that particular site and was thinking of moving it here...

When you write a blog on DiveBuddy.com, a "ping" is sent to dozens of blogging websites to notify them of your new blog. This dramatically improves the exposure of your new blog and allows many blogging search engines to index your blog and link back to it. So your blogs on DiveBuddy.com aren’t just limited to the viewers of our website, but rather the entire Internet knows about it.
