Halcyon backplate

I’m interested to buy a pbw... Recently, saw on Dipndive.com a Halcyon, really liked it and decided to test it.
The rig I tested was a Halcyon backplate with harness (no "upholstery"). I was diving in a 5mm wetsuit. Since I had no problems with rubbing bolts in my back or any discomfort, I see no reason to go for a full harness w padding type of BPW style as the Halcyon Infinity/Apex WTX etc... Love the simplicity of the backplate and harness set up.
My question is: if I buy a Apex backplate, will a Halcyon wing fit to it; is it possible to install on a Apex backplate a Halcyon Cinch system?

I’d be grateful for any clarification.

The backplate should not affect what you are hooking to it. Personally I have a Dive Rite plate, Hollis webbing/harness, and use an OMS or Dive rite wing interchangably. The blackpate holes will be standard to take bolts, 11 inches apart if I remember correctly, and the same for the slots for the webbing. The only time you might run into issue is if you add a back pad, they tend to only match the manufatures BP, ie you need a Halcyon pad for a Halcyon BP. Otherwise everything can be different. The only thing you will need if going to a BP is a single tank adaptor if you are not diving doubles.

I have two BP’s neither are Halcyon (FredT & Deep Sea Supply) and I’ve never felt the need for a back pad or padded harness.

If the weight belts normally used to make a harness cut in to you when wearing a 3 mil try making a harness from a car seat belt, they are softer but can be hard to slip into.

Some make wings don’t require a single tank adapter, two rods in the wing keep the tank from flopping.
