Now when you’re searching for dive sites on DiveBuddy, you can specify the entry type (boat/shore), maximum depth, and average visibility.

http://www.divebuddy.com/divesites_search.aspx

For example, now it’s easy to find shore dives in Florida with a depth between 31-50ft and visibility between 51-80ft. OR all shore dives with 100 miles of the zip code 90210.

Enjoy!

This will be really Great Greg. What is the filter picking up on, or criteria for a shore dive? I listed 4 shore dives in West Michigan last week (Daisy Day, Helen, Hamlin Lake Dam, Ludington Boat Launch), and there is another inland lake already listed (West Lake) - But None come up in a 100 mile search for shore dives from zip code 49437 (Montague) or 49442 (Muskegon). All listed dive sites are within 50 to 60 miles of these zip codes.

Just tryin’ to help work out the bugs...

Zipcode proximity requires a zipcode to exist on the divesite.

There we go .... that makes sense. I entered the sites using their GPS numbers and didn’t fill in a zip code. I will fix them.

Thanks Again Greg for all you do.

I suppose if I wanted to get fancy, I could determine the GPS coordinates of the zipcode and perform a proximity search based on that. The work never stops :)

I put in zip codes and near by city names. Should have done that right off the bat. Not sure how boat dives that aren’t near a town will filter depth and or vis. Approximation to land points will be good enough tho I think, if people do put those figures in when logging a dive site. You have to launch from somewhere ! Right ? (-:
