Hey All,

I am traveling to the Corn Islands, off Nicaragua, this summer and I wanted to get as much info as possible.

-How is the diving on Little Corn compared to Big Corn? I am planning on staying on Big Corn but I get the feeling that the diving is better of Little Corn; is that the case and if so where do you recommend we stay?

- What are the can’t miss dive sites?

Can I get any hotel and dive operator recommendations?

Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance to all that respond!!!

Not a lot of info out there so be sure to write a trip report here when you get back and update the "dive sites" with lots of pictures and comments, enjoy your trip off the beaten path.

I know this may not be helpful to you. But I saw this today. I’ve been to Corn Islands twice in the last two years. It’s. wonderful place. Go diving at the Little Corn, rather than the Big Corn. You need to take a ferry from the Big Corn. It takes about 45 min. There are lots to see under the water: sharks, eagle ray etc. Blowing rock is a wonderful dive site. There are two dive shops on the Little Corn. Dive Little Corn is a 5-star shop. I dove with them on both my trips. Food on the islands is very good. People there are very friendly.

Hey this is the first time I have been back on the site in a while.
I ended up in Little Corn Island. I went with my parents, sister, and my 2 cousins. Let me tell you that place is awesome. I was initially extremely worried because the trip over to the island was exhausting and my mom has a bad back. The boat ride from big to little corn is ROUGH so be prepared if you are planning on going.
Normally when I go diving its with my family so I like to go some where with some kind of city life; let me tell you there is no city but there is a strip that you can walk which is the main road and that takes you around the entire island ( takes about 30mins to walk the entire 3.3km island).
The food is extremely good but be prepared to wait. They are on "island time"!!!
The diving: we went with Dolphin dive center again the only 5 star dive resort on the island and let me tell you they were amazing. We stayed at the hotel and so we walked two mins (if that) every morning to the dive shop. Our experience with them was fantastic. The dives were great and our dive master was so enthusiastic that you couldn’t help but be excited about each and every dive. His name was Gary a local who new everything about the island and its surroundings. We priced it out to about $35/dive. The aquatic life was amazing!!! We say turtles, tons of nurse sharks, a few black tips, and went on a hammerhead shark dive(AWESOME).
My parents are in their 60’s and so when they dive they require a lot of help with their equipment going into the boat, into the water and out of the water. The crew was extremely helpful with everything.

We had a lot of luggage and on our way back they offered us a ride on their dive boat back to Big Corn Island.

So to recap: I had never heard of the Corn Islands, my cousin recommended the trip, and we did it. I am so glad we did it. The diving was amazing, the food was surprisingly good, and Dolphin Dive center was fantastic.

One last thing: the island has electricity from ( what I can remember) 2pm-5am.
