I have access to Cedar Beach in Mt. Sinai and I can get a day pass for access to Reeves beach out east http://www.aquaexplorers.com/shipwreckroanokepoint.htm

I also joined LIDA and working on getting the seasonal pass to park by the Ponquogue Bridge which i haven’t dove yet but want to. That area you need to dive with someone who’s done it because of the currents. I hear as long as you dive the end of the incoming and slack tide you’ll be fine but it would be nice to dive with someone who knows the area.

I also know an area in Stony Brook in the back bays.

Hey guys, I dive around Long Island, and would have no problem buddying up with you guys, schedule permitting. Ponquogue Bridge is kind of a drift dive but doesnt go pass I believe 17 feet or so. You can follow a pipe all the way out to where the whole dive takes place. Diving the Mt. Sinai Jetty could get rough and you should def go with someone who is expierenced. A populated dive is at Beach 8th street in Far Rockaway, a lot of people dive there, esp on the weekends. Thats where I did my checkout ocean divies during the certification process. If you want you can also join "The Long Island Dive Club. You can google the club for more info, they do dives all the time and also hold monthyl meetings as well. Keep in touch and maybe we can dive this summer.

Clarks Beach is also a good dive. I was under the impression that area was closed. The tide is high there around 8:30 Saturday 7/14/12 if you are available.

From RichKeller: Maybe next weekend then....
Hey Rich, I’ll be free friday 7/27 or Sat 7/28 if you want to head out for a dive. I can get the day pass for Reeves Beach out east that may be an easy dive for some spearfishing. Like I mentioned before, I just recently got certified a couple of weeks ago so I’m not experience with drift dives or any advanced dives.

I am working Friday and leaving Saturday for a few days of diving in Cape Ann Mass. so I will not be able to dive with you on those days. I will be back and able to dive Thursday afternoon through Sunday next week. Let me know if any of those days work for you.
