Problems with Kentucky Diving HQ

I paid for SSI Advanced Open Water last Nov and I’ve run into excuses after excuses. First, he did not follow the course curriculum as advertised on his webpage. When I asked him for the books, I was constantly told that they were being ordered. During class, it seemed that he just pulled out books he had on hand and taught those courses instead of what was advertised. Since there were only two of us in the class, there was no regular class schedule. Rather, we tried to meet when convenient for everyone, but since I don’t live in Louisville 24hrs notice was difficult to meet. Other times, the assistant would call about scheduling a date and then I would not hear from her for days. When I would call the shop, I would then find out that the class had been cancelled. Since starting the class last winter until now, we had only completed two sessions. When I stopped being able to reach someone at the shop and the webpage went down, I went to the shop which I was surprised to see had all of his stuff still in it with a sign that said "Will re-open 1June." No luck still. Just lately I heard that the owner had been arrested but made bail, and had his SSI backing pulled.

I will be contacting BBB and SSI. Thank you to Becky and Angi on DiveBuddy Facebook page! But if you have any other ideas, I would certainly appreciate it. If you have friends in the Louisville, KY area, warn them about KY Diving HQ should he somehow re-open. I’ve seen other folks’ reviews on Google with similar issues. My business is going to Louisville Dive Center from here on out.

I had the same issue with a LDS, they flew the coop while I had 5 tanks in for hydro, I got 4 back after the Brick police got involved. Was told missing tank failed but I never got the carcass or K-valve back so I’m assuming one of the staff has it.

Now the staff has opened a new shop in the same town, do they really think our memory is that short!
