Hey everyone, I thought I would share some info about the Utila Dive Festival. It will be this summer from August 18th to the 25th in Utila, Honduras. There will be lots of events and amazing giveaways. Please check out utiladivefestival.com for more info. There are also lots of places having amazing specials, like Coral View which is offering $649 for the first person and just an additional $325 for up to 3 more when sharing a room. This includes 7 nights accommodation (with A/C), breakfast, 10 fun dives and 1 night dive as well as transfers from the ferry or airport. That is just over $400 a person with 4 people for all that! book early while there is still room. I dove with them last summer and they are great. PS part of their giveaways includes a Dive Rite side mount system. There are lots of other dive shops participating and it should be a really good time. Come on down to Utila and DIVE, DIVE, DIVE!!!! :))

I know I will be there!

Also, I do not work for them or anything like that, but I did dive with them last summer and they are really good people who are doing things right. Rich who runs the dive shop is a great guy, and Miss Tanya at the hotel is wonderful too. I have noticed here there are not too many dive sites in Utila logged and I am working on that, so you can all get a better idea of what a great place this is. :)

Ever stayed at Mango Inn? I’m thinking about them for the next trip but Utila Lodge was great too.

Stayed at Deep Blue and it was great! Depends I think what you are looking for. for me, after researching I narrowed it down to Mango Inn or DB. Both had great reviews. i went with DB because of Steve’s knowledge of whale sharks as well as I was positive there was hot water. yep! that is a requirement for me. I looked that the website and what I remember most of the lodges were offering some good prices for the week. I love Utila. wish I could make it there for that fest

The Mango Inn is UDC’s hotel, generally the cheap rooms are pretty much like a hostel, and I would think for the festival it will probably be pretty rowdy. I don’t know much about Utila Lodge. I will be staying at the lighthouse. I stayed there for two weeks last summer and I really loved it. Thelma and her husband are really great, and although it is more expensive at ~$360 a week (for 2 people) it is clean, safe, extremely well kept and clean and they have their own backup generator, which is nice. The rooms have pretty comfy beds, nice bathrooms and you can flush the toilet paper, a/c, satellite tv and kitchenette (sink, dishes, fridge w/ freezer and microwave). It’s right near Alton’s and RJ’s just before the bridge.

The only other place I have stayed is Coral View. The accommodations are ok, but for the price difference I like Lighthouse much better accommodation-wise. Coral View has an awesome dive shop though, with great personalized service, and I would dive with them any day. The location is a bit more out of the way as they are at the far west end of the road past the public beach, a good 20-30 min walk from town (or a 5-8 minute tuk tuk ride, but they can charge more at night and in bad weather...). They also have great snorkelling from the pier, and you can use the kayaks to go through the mangroves to the north side, which is pretty fun.

I have some specials with Utopia Village and Laguna Beach Resort, my two favorites. Been to LBR about 15 times now. The Utopia deal is $1299pp for 7 nights, meals, boat dives, and R/T air Utila to Roatan or Utila to San Pedro Sula. They are also offering ground transportation to dive festival events and other perks. Check our facebook posts and website. Liquid Diving Adventures.
