CARSON CITY, Nev. — Identification was pending today on a body recovered from the cold depths of Lake Tahoe that authorities suspect may be the remains of a man who disappeared 17 years ago.

A recreational diver found the remains submerged off Rubicon Point on Lake Tahoe’s west shore last month

Wow, that’s crazy. My son and Greg were just diving Lake Tahoe a few months ago. I can’t imagine them finding this. I haven’t read the whole article that you posted but am going to now. Thanks for sharing!

RENO — Seventeen years after a scuba diver vanished into the cold depths of Lake Tahoe, the body of a Reno man recovered from the water in late July was identified by sheriff’s officials Monday.
The diver was identified by the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office as Donald Christopher Windecker, who was last seen during a diving excursion off Tahoe’s west shore on July 10, 1994.
The body, wearing diving gear, was discovered by a deep water diver in depths of 265 feet off Rubicon Point July 24. It was recovered by sheriff’s officials with the use of a remote-operated submersible vehicle July 27. The body was well preserved by Tahoe’s cold waters but final identification was made through dental records, sheriff’s officials said.

"I am not a smart man Jenny," but I am assuming this wasn’t a "recreational" diver (the other statement was the body was found in 265feet of water). Kinda cool to use a sub to get a body instead of a long deco dive in that warm water.
