Review emergency procedures...

On August first, my dive buddy (new diver) experienced some equipment malfunction at 70 foot. Their low pressure inflator started free flowing. Thankfully, my buddy remembered their training and exhaled while ascending rapidly. Do you ever review or practice SCUBA basics and/or emergency procedures?

[Choose #5] I dive enough that I don’t need to review.. Why didn’t you just disconnect the inflator hose or better yet just dump the air out of the bc.. There was reason for a rapid accent..

[Choose #1] I must do this on a regular basis, and recommend students do this as well. ESAs should be practiced to refine the technique & develop confidence, and sharing air should be done for the same reason, and with new buddy.

[Choose #1] why did your buddy do a rapit ascent from 70t? Why not disconnect the LP inflate hose and deal with the problem at depth?
